SADASHIVA BRAHMENDRA.... PART - 7

SADASHIVA BRAHMENDRA.... PART - 7

As opined by Plato, it is said that Vijayaraghunada Thondaiman ruled over a virtuous regime in a rather facile manner. That is, as a result of the wise guidance of Gopala Krishna Shrouthigal, by putting in place sound rules and principles of governance, the country was able to mould virtuous citizens free of crimes, unfailing peace and happiness. "Mandirikku Azhagu Varumporul Uraithal" (A good minister forecasts what will happen) - this is the saying of 'Narunthogai' authored by Adiveerarama Pandiyar. In governance what kind of laws should be followed to achieve particular results in a given situation - this can be only be gauged by men of wisdom and philosophers and not even by men who are blessed with worldly intelligence. Because of this reason only, kings of the hoary past chose farsighted men to be their ministers.

The way our Gnani guided Thondaiman to choose a particular man of wisdom as his minister, the emperor of Rome, Vespasian, was directed by the God Serapis which had a temple in Alexandria to choose a wise man by name Basillides, as his minister. In the sacrosanctum of this temple Lord Parameshwara was seen in the form of Nandikeshwara. The idol was in the form of a man with the face of Nandi [Bull].

Regretting the injustice perpetrated on Helvidius by him, Vespasian set his heart on a proper government. For this purpose he wanted to get the command of God Serapis in choosing an Egyptian wise man to assist him in such rule. With his essential paraphernalia, he reached the harbour of Alexandria and went directly to the temple. Stationing those who accompanied him outside the temple, he went inside the temple alone, sat in deep meditation at the sacrosanctum.

Thus when he was meditating, he saw one of the popular Gurus viz Basilides standing in front of him with his eyes closed. When he came out of the meditation, he could not see Basilides in the temple.

He ordered his servants to search the temple to find out whether Basilides was there anywhere in the temple. On getting a negative reply, he arranged to check whether Basillides was anywhere in Alexandria on that day. Finally he despatched messengers on horse who reported to him that Basilides was living in his native village 80 miles away. On getting this information, he went to the village himself to meet Basilides and told him about his experience and requested him to be instructed on principles of good governance. Historians refer to the regime of Vespasian as 'Empire in
Peace'.

SADASHIVA BRAHMENDRA.... PART - 6

At this juncture a doubt may arise in you as to how can persons of other religions be blessed by a Hindu Gnani?

If a particular deed of sin is committed by a Christian or Muslim or Hindu [divine religion], they face the same consequences in hell as well as in their next birth on earth. Hence the readers must know that there is neither harsher punishment for persons of other religions nor any concession for Hindus.
Similarly there is no difference in rewards for virtuous deeds. Moreover, a person born as a Hindu may be born in other religions in subsequent births and vice versa. Till one person attains the level of Mutrina Viveki, he may be born in different religions in turn. Though many in the world may have declared themselves as persons belonging to different religions, Gods are the masters of the entire universe and human race. Hence Gods don't discriminate on the basis of religion. Hence a Thuravi or Gnani may spiritually raise a person belonging to any religion up to a certain level. But since pure divine religion is on the point of extinction, no one can raise to divinity in future.

Let us turn towards Sadasiva Gnani about whom we were discussing. Hearing about his greatness, the heart of Pudukottai king, Vijayaraghunada Thondaiman's was yearning for the Darshan of Gnani. He was regretting the fact that Gnaanis have no permanent residence and where to find him. One day early morning he had a dream in which he had Darshan of Gnani. That is all. He sat on his horse and went in search of him into the forest area. Lo, the compassionate Gnani too came forward to give him Darshan in real life. The king fell at the feet of Gnani like an uprooted tree.

The Gnani not only blessed the king, but in response to his request also suggested to him to appoint one Gopala Krishna Shrouthigal, a man of wisdom, as his minister by writing his name on earth. The king collected the sand on which Gnani wrote, with devotion, prostrated to him and took leave of him. He reached the palace and offered regular puja and Aradhana to the sacred sand. Till the British regime came to an end, on all special days, the first priority was accorded only to that holy sand.

SADASHIVA BRAHMENDRA.... PART - 5

A statue of "Shakthi" [Ambal] which was consecrated by some immaculate men a few centuries before was lying unnoticed in a bush near Tanjore. This Ambal who was very powerful thought it fit to bless all persons out of sheer compassion. Hence she appeared in dream of the Tanjore king in the form of our Gnani, informed him the place where her statue was lying unnoticed, ordered it to be consecrated in the same spot and a temple built around it. The king took the order in all seriousness and executed the same.

In tune with the wishes of Ambal, Gnani gave power to the statue from his abode and also gave Darshan to the king in response to his prayers. Till date, this Ambal is seated in a small town by name 'Punnai Nallur ' aka 'Mariamman Kovil' and was a boon granter till the recent past.

Besides, if a man who has super human powers and doesn't worship Gods or idols, such a person is labelled as a Muslim by Muslims as a matter of principle. That is, such a person is supposed to be following the iconoclastic tenets enshrined in the Koran. Moreover, according to the dictates of Koran [Sura 9 - Verse 5] those who worship Gods and idols must either be converted to Islam or must be murdered in case they resist conversion. In India Muslims who are not aware of such draconian laws of Islam have been living. Two such Muslims heard about the reputation of our Gnani thought of him as incarnation of Nabi and accordingly pined for his Darshan.

At this time Gnani was showing up occasionally in Tanjore region. Whenever they heard of reports of a naked saint being seen in the vicinity, they used to run to the spot and check it out. Finally it so happened that they met up with Gnani. They bowed down to the Gnani as if he was Allah. Rewarded for a great act of virtue committed by them in their previous birth, they were granted the vision of Gnani and were raised to the level of Pazhutha Vivekis from that of Pamarans.

As soon as they got the blessing of the Gnani, they got detached from all worldly bondages. That is they renounced everything except hunger, thirst, sleep and dress. They sat at a place meditating on Gnani. Witnessing their power of renunciation people from all religions praised them and a few had their Darshan too. When they died, samadhis were constructed for them on the spot. In Tanjore, the samadhis exist till date and are called 'Rettai Masthan'.

SADASHIVA BRAHMENDRA.... PART - 4

Let us now turn towards Paul. In this book I have written about Sanyasis called Bogomiles. They only followed the rules of Sanyasa as enunciated by Paul in his book. Paul excelled among his contemporary philosophers. Now I will give below the salient features of Gnani as elucidated by him.

"One who has stopped taking food and drink; one who focuses on the purity of his soul rather than of his garments; one whose body is dusty from avoidance of bath which is an activity to maintain one's body; one who is immersed in Brahma conscience". Such a person has been described as a Gnani and the tiny insects on his person has been equated to the precious stones of God.

By the way, when our Thuravi was sitting on the sands of Kaveri, there was a flash flood which drowned Him completely. Those who witnessed the incident described it as some Samiyar being washed away by water. The waters receded after many months. At the bank of river Kodimudi, a cart man laid his shovel to collect sand. The shovel hit some object lightly. He cautiously withdrew his shovel and was flabbergasted to observe blood at its tip. He shouted for help and with the assistance of those who came, he dug the sand and found our Thuravi whom he removed to safety. The Thuravi got up and moved away on his own. Those who witnessed this wonder spoke of the person as a great Mahan. The Thuravi now became a Gnani. He emerged naked from the sands which became permanent thereafter. After he became a Gnani, he might have travelled to any corner of the universe at will. But there is no chance for such things to reach our ears. We only hear about a few incidents that happened in our country.

One day when he was travelling in the forests on the bank of Tamraparani river, piles and piles of firewood was being taken to the army of the local head (Palyayapattu Thalaivan). A worker from palace who was a part of this activity, sighted this naked saint, gave him a piece of cloth and loaded a bundle of firewood on his head. The Gnani could have revealed his greatness to him in many ways. But he chose to do it with some humour. He carried the bundle for a few miles, reached the destination and put down the bundle on the other bundles gathered there already with a thud. Lo, the entire quantity of firewood caught fire! Those who witnessed this miracle knew that the perpetrator was a Mahan and developed a great sense of fear on that count. Some fell at the Samiyar's feet and begged for forgiveness. The entire pile of firewood was reduced to ashes in a split second. However the saint blessed for double the quantity which appeared there instantly surprising the onlookers completely. Apart from this, we hear about revival of a dead woman and curing of a leper. But we don't have their details.

SADASHIVA BRAHMENDRA PART - 3

SADASHIVA BRAHMENDRA PART - 3

Similar to the incident that happened to the children, a young Vaishnavite was fortunate enough to be transported to Sri Rangam and have Darshan of Perumal. He also received the blessings of Thuravi and rose to the level of Pazhutha Viveki rooted in Advaitham.

No one is going to bother about a Thuravi who may look worse than a nomad. But those who know them will not go past them without bowing to them, though they may not try to speak to them. Though most of the people belonging to Trichy have heard of our Thuravi, it is unlikely that they may have an idea of his identity. Moreover, shall we pay obeisance to all nomads treating them as Thuravis? In other words, granting that we come across a genuine Thuravi, how can we understand his greatness as an extraordinary person, unless we see some miracle performed by him at that time?

At this juncture I am not able to proceed without quoting Paul on the salient features of Gnanis or enlightened persons. Before we read Paul's quotation on Gnaanis it is essential that we must know some details about him. He was an expert in scriptures of divine religion. I am giving below some information on Paul and Christianity as given by H.G.Wells and a few Christian scholars. This Jew [Gentile - i.e. a Jew, but not a denouncer of the gods] was an accredited Roman citizen. He lived in Rome and has not even seen Jesus. He neither knew Jesus. But a lot of importance has been accorded to him in Bible. It is given in the Bible that Paul was imprisoned because he preached Christianity and the prison doors opened automatically. Gibbon has condemned this severely. Christianity did not exist as a religion during the period of Nero. Only in the regime of Trajan a few people who adopted novel principles started appearing in Rome.
Those who edited Bible, have shown Paul as a disciple of Jesus and he has been preaching Christianity and propagating Epistles.

Epistles - one of the canonical of the N.T. (New Testament). In the English version it bears the title 'the Epistle of Paul' the Apostle to the Hebrews, but can hardly have been written by St. Paul since it differs radically in the language, style and thought from the other Pauline writings. The use made of the O.T. by the writer suggests that his purpose was to save his readers from a relapse into Judaism. It would seem to have been written towards the end of the first century A.D., Similarly the Gospel of John is an attempt to justify Christianity and the Biblical career of the Jesus as facts. Scholars of the most advanced school hold that it was composed by a Christian, possibly connected with Alexandria or Ephesus about A.D. 140.

Even when an omnipotent person or God descends to earth, He doesn't go about resolving the problems of each and everyone on the earth. This is a just principle. But they perform a few miracles at will with an intention of demonstrating the "spiritual power"[Athmika Shakthi] to the world at large before vanishing on their own.

THEY ARE NOT THOSE WHO ADVERTISE THEIR POWERS. ALSO THEY DON'T GIVE A DEMONSTRATION OF THEIR MIRACULOUS POWERS IN FRONT OF AN ORGANISED CROWD.

SADASHIVA BRAHMENDRA PART - 2 ....

Sanyasis who have heard of the greatness of Sri Paramasivendral used to come for his Darshan. A few learnt lessons in his presence. Hence it can be said that his Ashram was adorned by the presence of pundits, Sanyasis and philosophers. In such gatherings debates naturally happened which gracefully brought out the talent and scholarship of the participants. The ashram of Paramasivendral was no exception. As far as our Vedanthi [Sadasivan] was concerned he participated not so much as to exhibit his knowledge but did not spare those who participated with a clear intention to win. He engaged such competitive pundits in fierce debate till they conceded defeat. Though such scriptural debates and competition among scholars were common in those times, they helped evolution of arts and sublimation of culture of countries. Further, they also helped in maintenance of culture based on scriptures.

However those functioning at an exalted state may not be interested in such debates. As far as Paramasivendral was concerned though he was not interested in such debates, he did not want to offend those who participated in them in his presence by speaking his mind out and adopted an indifferent stance towards such activities in his ashram. One day a pundit who was vanquished by Sadasivan in a debate went to Paramasivendral and complained to him about Sadasivan. Paramasivendral gave an appropriate explanation to the aggrieved pundit called the Vedanthi after some time and spoke his mind out to him thus, "Sadasiva, what avail are these debates of? When are you going to conquer your tongue?"

The Vedanthi who understood fully the import of his Guru's words responded with humble devotion "Hey Guro! Only today I have received your grace".

That is all! From that second till he shed his mortal coil, there was silence. Sadasivar who gave up family attachment then renounced literary attachment too now. We may add, that he gave up his attachment to aversion! He left his Guru's ashram and wandered where his legs took him. He sat down in a few places and lay down in yet another places. He again took to wandering. This way, he was roaming about in the locality with total abandon. However his mind simply was empty.

Those who saw him decided that he has become insane. Some other persons reported the matter to His Guru Paramasivendral. But the Guru who knew Sadasivan's mindset felt bad that such insanity did not overcome him! Only because of this reason, the Guru pulled up Sadasivan mildly.

In other words, it can be said that this exhortation of his Guru became a blessing to Sadasivan. As far as Paramasivendral was concerned, he became a Mahan rooted in Siva conscience from the moment Sadasivan left him. After Paramasivendral passed away, a Sanyasi who was serving him was asked to ascend Kamakoti Peetam by the local heads. Till date Vaidhika Puja and Abhishekam are being conducted in the tiny temple in which Paramasivendral's Adhishtanam is housed.
